Two hours over the Carpathians: a cross-country paragliding story
We climbed to 2,500 metres, landed on Piatra Mare and came back two hours later. The story of a cross-country flight over Brașov.

Some passengers come for a few minutes in the air. Others want to find out how far a wing can take them. This is the story of one such flight: two hours over the mountains around Brașov, with Cosmin “Mex” Nedelea, who wanted exactly that.
The climb: 2,500 metres in the first half hour
Mex chose the cross-country flight; we kitted up properly and set off. In the first half hour we gained height, climbing all the way to 2,500 metres. From there, we set course for the Piatra Mare massif.
A landing on Piatra Mare
We landed on the massif to enjoy the view from the top with our feet on the ground. Then we took off again and flew back and forth along the Piatra Mare ridge.
Over the Noua district and back
From the ridge we flew towards Brașov's Noua district, where you can see the city up close. We picked up some more height and flew back to Bunloc, where we landed safely, grinning from ear to ear. The whole adventure lasted two hours: adrenaline, relaxation and plenty of fun.
Cross-country flying today
The flight in this story took off from Bunloc, before the chairlift there closed in October 2025. Our cross-country flight has since moved too: today, The Distance takes off from the area around Postăvaru Peak, from 1,800 m, and is flown only from June to August.
The route keeps the same spirit: thermal flying over Postăvaru, a landing on Piatra Mare, then on over the Noua district to land at Bunloc or near the Carrefour store. What's included, what it costs and how to book are all on our page for The Distance.
The Distance is our longest flight, and it's only for people who have flown tandem before. If you haven't flown yet, start with your first tandem flight.
