Everything you want to know before your first step into thin air. Literally.
Before your flight
No. On a tandem flight, the pilot takes care of everything: you get a short briefing, take a few steps at take-off, and the rest is flying. You don't need any training beforehand.
Yes. The passenger must weigh at least 30 kg. The maximum weight is 95 kg for The View and 85 kg for The Thermal and The Distance. If you're outside the limits for the flight you choose, the flight can't go ahead, so check them before you buy — especially when you're giving the flight as a gift.
Yes, if they weigh at least 30 kg. There is no minimum age. Minors can fly only with the consent of both parents or of their legal guardian, and one parent or the guardian must be present at take-off. The pilot decides whether the flight is suitable for the child.
Comfortable clothes for the season, in layers, and sports shoes with a grippy sole. It's colder up there than in town, so an extra layer never hurts. Sunglasses are a good idea. We provide the helmet and the passenger harness.
Tell us before the flight if you have a medical condition or circumstance that could make the flight unsafe: heart problems, epilepsy, pregnancy, recent injuries or surgery, back or knee problems that prevent you from taking a few running steps at take-off and landing. Do not fly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that affects your reactions.
Many of our passengers felt the same before their first flight. In the air, there's no feeling of a drop beneath your feet — you sit comfortably in the harness, and the pilot talks to you the whole way. The decision is yours, but a fear of heights usually isn't an obstacle.
On the day
Take-off is a few running steps alongside your pilot, after the briefing. You land on your feet, with a few running steps: The View and The Thermal at the foot of the Bradul ski slope, next to the Centrul de Agrement (leisure centre); The Distance at Bunloc or near the Carrefour store. Wherever you land, the ride back to your car is on us.
How long a paragliding flight lasts depends on the flight you choose: The View lasts about 15 minutes, The Thermal 20–30 minutes and The Distance about 2 hours. The weather on the day can affect how long a flight lasts.
The meeting point is at the gondola base station in Poiana Brașov. Booking in advance is required. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before the agreed time. You'll have to pay for parking near the lifts, whether you use a public car park run by Brașov City Hall (Primăria Brașov) or a private one.
From the air you can see Brașov, the Bucegi Mountains, Piatra Craiului, Piatra Mare, Postăvaru and the Poiana Brașov resort.
Yes — photos and video from your flight are included with OneSky flights.
After the flight, we send you a personal link on WhatsApp to a page with your footage, where you can download the photos and video in a single package. The link has an expiry date, shown on the page itself. If it has expired or never reached you, message us and we'll reactivate it.
Prices and booking
A paragliding flight in Brașov costs from 650 RON (about €120), photos and video included. The price depends on the flight you choose: how long it lasts and the altitude we take off from. Each flight shows its price alongside everything it includes.
During the ski season, the ride up by gondola or cable car is included in the price of your flight. Outside the ski season, you pay for your own lift ticket at the lift's base station. The exception is The Distance, where the lift ride is always included — it is flown only from June to August.
Vouchers ordered on the website are paid by card, on the secure NETOPIA Payments page. If you order a voucher on WhatsApp or by phone, we send you a payment link. For a flight booked directly, without a voucher, we agree on how you'll pay when you book. Prices are in Romanian lei (RON) and include VAT.
Booking is required, and we schedule each flight a few days in advance, so we can check the forecast. Call us, or message us on WhatsApp or by email, and we'll confirm the day and time.
Gift voucher
You buy the voucher in the name of the person who will fly, and you receive it as a PDF by email. The voucher carries their name, so only they can use it: they call or message us and book the flight a few days ahead, so we can check the forecast. The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
We reschedule, no problem — the weather always decides. You can reschedule at any time while the voucher is valid (12 months from purchase). The validity isn't extended, so it's best to book your flight early. If you change your mind, you can cancel the voucher within 14 days of purchase, as long as the flight hasn't taken place, and we'll refund you; after that, the voucher can't be returned.
Weather
We only fly when conditions are safe. The decision to fly, to postpone or to end a flight early is the pilot's, and it can be made on the day itself. If the weather doesn't allow it, we reschedule your flight free of charge — with a voucher, to a day within its validity period.
Yes, we fly all year round. The View and The Thermal can be flown in any season, whenever the weather allows, and during the ski season the ride up by gondola or cable car is included in the price. The Distance is flown only from June to August.
Safety
Paragliding is an outdoor activity and, like any such activity, it carries risks. We reduce them with licensed, experienced pilots, tandem-specific equipment checked before every take-off, and cautious decisions about the weather: we only fly when conditions are safe.
Yes. OneSky's pilots are licensed by AZLR, the Romanian free-flight association accredited by the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (AACR). Vlad is a paragliding instructor and Botes is a tandem pilot.
Yes. We have third-party liability insurance with AXA.
You get a helmet and a passenger harness with built-in protection. In winter, if you'd like, we'll also give you gloves and ski goggles. The equipment is checked before every flight, and the reserve parachute is repacked every year.
