Safety

Tandem paragliding safety

You enjoy the flight; we take care of the rest. Every tandem flight starts with the same checks, the same briefing and the same rule: the weather decides.

Your pilot

On a tandem flight, the pilot is at the controls from the first step to the landing. You have nothing to steer: you sit in the harness, listen and look around.

Our pilots are licensed by AZLR, the Romanian free-flight association accredited by the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority (AACR). Vlad is a paragliding instructor and has been flying for more than 10 years; Botes is a tandem pilot with more than 20 years of flying.

We have third-party liability insurance with AXA.

We've been flying passengers for more than 10 years, with over 11,000 flights behind us. We know the nerves before that first step — and how they turn into laughter on landing.

Meet the team and our pilots.

The briefing

Before take-off, your pilot walks you through what happens, step by step: the few running steps at take-off, how you sit in the harness during the flight and what to do when you land. It takes a few minutes, and there's nothing to learn by heart.

In the air, your pilot talks to you throughout the flight. Whenever there's something for you to do, you're told at the right moment.

The equipment

We fly with tandem-specific equipment and check it before every flight. The reserve parachute is repacked every year.

We provide a helmet and a passenger harness with built-in protection. In winter, if you'd like, we'll also give you gloves and ski goggles.

The weather decides

We watch the forecast for days before a flight. We only fly when conditions are safe, and the decision to fly, to postpone or to end a flight early is the pilot's — sometimes on the day itself, at take-off.

If the weather isn't on our side, we reschedule your flight free of charge. Your safety comes before any schedule.

Take-off and landing

We take off from Postăvaru, the mountain above Poiana Brașov: a few running steps, together with your pilot. The wing fills with air, your steps get lighter and, at some point, your feet no longer touch the ground.

You land on your feet, with a few running steps: The View and The Thermal at the foot of the Bradul ski slope, next to the Centrul de Agrement (leisure centre); The Distance at Bunloc or near the Carrefour store. How to get to the take-off point.

What to tell us beforehand

The passenger must weigh at least 30 kg. The maximum weight is 95 kg for The View and 85 kg for The Thermal and The Distance. If you're outside these limits, the flight can't go ahead.

Tell us before the flight if you have a medical condition or circumstance that could make the flight unsafe: heart problems, epilepsy, pregnancy, recent injuries or surgery, back or knee problems that prevent you from taking a few running steps at take-off and landing. Do not fly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that affects your reactions.
